Our Work

How we organized to protect the vote

We’re a nonpartisan effort to ensure eligible voters can participate in our democracy without threats of intimidation, overly burdensome policies, or long lines. We work to tear down barriers to civic participation, combat misinformation around voting, and modernize outdated election rules that keep citizens from voting. We rely on volunteers and voters to observe polling places across the state and report any potential voter intimidation, equipment malfunction, or other barriers to voters.

Arizona ran a successful election despite the pandemic,
thanks to community organizers and investing in people.

Election Protection Arizona

This election, amidst a global pandemic, racial uprisings and the rise in white nationalism encouraged by the highest levels of our government, resulted in the most racialized violence including state sanctioned violence of this generation. We were expecting an immense amount of violence in efforts to suppress our communities ability to participate in voting — what is often relegated as one of the most powerful acts in traditional democracy spaces — including police presence at polling places. In fact, we experienced unprecedented amounts of voter suppression.

Elections aren’t the end. Now we shift to holding
lawmakers and decision makers accountable.

Election Protection Arizona was a coalition effort.
